Share (Portsmouth) is looking for new Trustees to lead our mission: helping people in Portsmouth keep more money in their pockets while tackling the climate crisis.

We believe that saving money and saving the planet go hand-in-hand. Through our Repair Café and Library of Things, we help residents fix rather than ditch broken things, and enable them to borrow what they need.

How We Put Money Back in People’s Pockets

Every day, our projects deliver direct financial relief to the community:

  • Repair Café Portsmouth: We fix broken electrical items, clothes, and furniture, saving households the high cost of replacement.
  • Portsmouth Library of Things: Residents borrow tools, party equipment, and specialist gear, eliminating the need to buy items they only use once.
  • Community Education: We teach practical skills that reduce household bills and DIY costs.

With a dedicated staff team, 40+ volunteers, and National Lottery funding, we are scaling up our impact. Now, we need your leadership to ensure we reach even more people struggling with costs.

  2. Secure funding: Ensure we have the resources to keep our services low-cost.

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome applications from anyone with relevant skills and commitment. We’re particularly interested in:

  • Experienced trustees ready to step into Chair or Secretary roles
  • Professionals with expertise in governance, strategy, legal, community engagement, or fundraising
  • Those who live or work in Portsmouth who want to see their city become more affordable.

We welcome applications from all backgrounds and are actively seeking diverse voices to represent the communities we serve.

The Commitment

  • Six board meetings per year.
  • Occasional additional meetings depending on your role.
  • Day-to-day operations are managed by our Chief Executive, Clare Seek, who reports to the board.
