For catering purposes, it would be great to get an idea of who’s coming, please drop us a quick email to let us know if you’ll be joining us.

Some additional information:

We’re a charity

Share (Portsmouth) was founded in November 2022 and is the charity that runs Repair Café Portsmouth & Portsmouth Library of Things.  We are regulated by the Charity Commission in England & Wales, and each year we must elect Trustees (the people that make sure we’re doing what we’re set up to do) and present our report and accounts (showing what we’ve done in the previous year and how the money has been spent in line with our objects). You can find our record with the Charity Commission here. You can find details of the trustees to elect and our report and accounts to be approved at the bottom of this page.

What are Objects?

When a charity is formed, it must have its ‘Objects’ agreed by the Charity Commission…you can’t be a charity in England without a purpose that is agreed with them.  Our ‘objects’ are:

  1. to promote and safeguard the environment for the public benefit in Portsmouth and the surrounding area, by working to prevent and minimise waste disposal, reduce carbon emissions and raw material use through the provision and support of community resource sharing, re-use and repair initiatives;
  2. the advancement of the education of the public regarding the protection of the environment and sustainable living in Portsmouth and the surrounding area, through the sharing, repairing and re-use of products.

What are Members & what do they do?

Our charity is set up, so that Members have a say in how we are run.

  • You can become a Member if you
    • volunteer with us, or
    • are a member of the Library of Things or,
    • bring items along to our Repair Café.
  • As a Member, it is your duty to exercise your power in the way that you decide in good faith would be most likely to further the purposes of the charity.
  • You become a Member for a year by signing up as a Member when you attend the AGM, or if you are unable to attend, by emailing us at least 1 week before the AGM, and submitting any votes at least 24 hours before the meeting.
  • As a Member you will have a vote during the AGM during the election of Trustees and in agreeing the Annual Report.

Trustees up for Re-Election

This year we have two trustees who will be resigning from the Board, and who are both happy to stand again and we will therefore be asking members to re-elect.

  • Helen Burden
  • Hannah Shackleton

Annual Report & Financial Statements

Our accounts have been independently examined and are presented below for approval at the AGM on Saturday 13th April 2023. If you have any questions about them, please feel free to email Clare in advance of the AGM, or ask on the day. We will be giving a very high level overview at the start of the event.
